  1. My mom’s a ‘fan’ of Guangzhou, seemed like she really enjoyed herself while she was there. Maybe I should plan a trip over too. ^^

Euphemia – You should, for a few days. Compared with other Chinese cities, it does seem a little drab at first sight though I’m sure there are gems if you look hard enough in the right places. What does she like about Guangzhou ?

  3. I think she likes it because there seems to be lesser people than HK (that’s what she said), there’s more to explore, the food is good, good service. But she got cheated twice on the RMB $ – counterfeit. BUT she still likes it for it’s overall experience.

Euphemia – Probably as many people except that the city’s more spacious and not as squashed as in HK. Yeah, just got to be streetsmart and wary of pickpockets and such. Cheap and good food, always a winner !

  5. And I forgot to mention, because Mom’s a cantonese, her forefathers were from Guangzhou – some province? Sei yat? Shun tak? Something along the line. So I guess it’s like ‘home coming’ for her.

I will, if I have the time. (:

Btw, I’d be heading to HK next year (I know – family holidays are always planned like a year ahead). You have any idea on lodging at Bridal Tea House (Yau Mah Tei)? Cos it’s so ex to stay in Cityview (which I did previously) or L’Nina Hotel (a little far in).

    Thanks thanks!!

Euphemia – So organized ! Whoops sorry not too familiar with lodging as my family usually stays with me whenever they visit. Did you try their website (is there one) ?

  7. always nice to see things through your lens…even a familiar city for me seems refreshing. p.s. we both seemed to have a fetish on mailboxes, no? there’s something so interesting about them, and what it means to different people at different times.

  8. luz – Happy that you like them. Mailbox fetish yes, perhaps I’d grown up with new and shiny ones in Singapore.
