Now that I’m not living in Hong Kong anymore, I’ve come to realize fresh and affordable seafood shellfish cooked Chinese style is a rather rare commodity. Jiangnan cuisine isn’t something I naturally gravitate towards but after seeing this fine picture of a huuuge plate of stir-fried cockles in scallion and oil on Instagram, I knew I had to go to this gem of a tiny restaurant in Belleville a couple of métro stops away from home. Boy was it tasty, a little on the salty side if you eat it on its own but hey dishes like this are meant to be eaten with a bowl of rice and that’s when it strikes that chord of homestyle comfort food perfection. Definitely heading back soon for the razor clams.
