Les Puces de Saint-Ouen

It’s been a year and a half since I’ve moved to France and I still haven’t checked out the flea markets north of Paris so it’s pretty apt when Elisabeth from Discover Walks emailed to ask if I’m interested to try their walking tours. Not surprisingly, I just had to pick the flea market tour.

While it isn’t a comprehensive overview of all the various markets in Saint-Ouen, what the two-hour tour does offer is a quick introduction with handy tips such as French bargaining etiquette and where to lunch nearby after the tour — perfect for first-timers before embarking on an afternoon of market explorations.

Personally, I find the prices on the high side and there were not many steals to be had at first glance, unlike at seasonal neighborhood brocantes and vide-greniers. But I’ll probably make my way back soon, who knows what I might come across one day if I’m lucky.
