Voir du pays (2016)

So I’ve realized that I tend to watch French films when I’m on a plane leaving Paris. This one is a war film that deals with the consequences of war set against a backdrop of French soldiers undergoing a decompression program in Cyprus. Even the title (“See the world”) makes an ironic reference to what people say when they join the army. It isn’t for everyone though as it explores topics most people would rather not talk about: PTSD, French soldiers in Afghanistan, women in combat and everyday sexism. Nothing that is easy to digest nor does it make you feel good after watching but I’m glad I’d watched it.
