The day we took the lift to the ninth floor to get on the roof of the Philharmonie de Paris, it was windy and gray, perfect with the industrial, mundane backdrop on the edge of the Périph.

Paris is not mindblowingly gorgeous at every turn like how some people would lead you to believe. Paris is capable of being ordinary too, extremely unremarkable if not for a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower in the distance.

Makes for a lovely jaunt when you are in the hood and the walk down the side of the controversial Jean Nouvel-designed facade isn’t too shabby either. It’s currently closed for the winter but will reopen next March.
